He married MARY TUCKER Nov 3, 1821 in Pendleton Dist, SC. She was born Feb 27, 1803 in SC, and died Aug 6, 1870 in Marshall Co., AL.

Notes for WADE HAMPTON SLATON II:

It is difficult to trace Wade Hampton Slaton's children because of the repetition of names such as: William, Wade, Hampton, Willis, John, Richard, and Uriah - many of the same ages. Wade's brother, Loven also moved to Marshall Co, AL and had children or grandchildren of the same names as Wade. In addition George Washington Slaton (who some say is a brother to Wade and Loven) lived in TN and had children with the same names and some of them moved to AL. From census record for the first Wade H. Slaton I find he had only 2 sons and a daughter so I do not believe that George Washington is his son. Some say his daughter may have been Mariah.

Wade II was born in SC and moved to GA between 1828 and 1837. He moved to AL between 1844 and 1847 - From childrens' birth locations.

Wade Slaten purchased 39.95 acres in Talladega Co, AL from BLM in 1851.

I found the marriage for William and Mary Reeve in Marshall Co, AL. I am not sure that this William is the son of Wade Slaton II. The 1860 census shows him in Winston Co, AL. I am certain that the 1870 census for DeKalb Co, AL married to Esay is the right one.

1870 DeKalb Co, AL. William D. Slaton 37, Esay 35. Mayfield children: Hosea 13, Margaret 11, Marvin O. 9, Martha J. 8. These must be Esay's children from a previous marriage?

1900 DeKalb Co, AL. Essie E. Slaton age 65 (widow) is living with son, Marvin Mayfield and his family. Essie has had 5 children with 3 living.

Thomas Nathaniel Frasier was born in 1859 in Marshall Co, AL. He is listed as Thomas N., age 4 mos on the 1860 census. He is listed as Nathaniel, age 11 on the 1870 census and Nathaniel age 20 on the 1880 census.

The marriage license for Thomas Nathaniel Frasier and Mary Magdelene Slaton lists him as Charles N. Frasier. Mollie Slaton Frasier Stone called him Nate. She said his name was Thomas Nathaniel and she named his son Thomas Nathaniel. I believe that the original license was hard to read and when it was re-written for distribution it was misread.

Mollie Stone also said he was of Scottish descent. She met him when he returned home after visiting family in Texas. She was present at a party where he played the fiddle and she mentioned his 'dashing figure and flashing eyes'. They ran away to get married but her father and brothers caught them and brought them back. Her father whipped her with his belt for running away. Then he agreed that they could marry even though she was only 16 years old.

Thomas Nathaniel died of typhoid in 1888. He is buried at Shoal Creek Cemetery in Marshall County, Alabama.

In 1930 Rebecca L. Slaton is living with her brother John. He is 63 and she is 55. It is evident that she married a Conway before 1920 but divorced him before 1830. If Conway had died I don't think she would have taken her maiden name back.
