 CORN HUSKINGS

In The fall we did have parties in the corn-crib.  Sometimes the corn-crib was in the barn but sometimes it was in a different building.  The parties were corn huskings  - removing the shucks from the corn.

Whoever was giving the party hid ten or twelve ears of red corn in among the white ears.  If you got a red ear, you got to kiss who ever you wanted to.

We almost never had any food or drink at these parties, but I do remember that sometimes Papa would buy a stalk of bananas or in the fall of the year we’d have apples.
